Leo Freire Signed Drumsticks!

Hey!

It has been a while, since I have wrote a real bit. since I have wrote something interesting for everyone to enjoy! Man! Do i know how to ruin a perfectly fine lyric or what?!

A while ago I asked what my next subject should be. Leo said it should be his signed drumstick. It took a while since I got to writing again, but since then I was lucky enough to get another one!

The first stick I got from Leo was given to me in Aarschot, Belgium on 19-10-2015. He promised it to me in Cologne after the show there got cancelled. We turned out to have a awesome night in Cologne anyway with Leo, Mike, and Lizzy.

The second stick  was given to me on 12-05-2016 by Brendan after Leo let it slip playing the first song in Oxford during their previous tour. Afterwards Leo signed it very suitingly with "the flying drumstick from hell"

I'm really happy to have gotten the two drumsticks and would love to get even more for my collection!

Oxford was really great. After a miserable trip from the Netherlands to Oxford which took us 3 more hours than it could have we finally arrived and the welcome was so warming! We almost instantly forgot about the travel and enjoyed every second of our stay in Oxford. During the show they played my all time favourite song "Fisherman with a clock" and it was perfect, almost got me to tears there. After the show we got to hang around a bit and chat with the band. It's great to have become friends with a group of such great people and I can't wait to see them again on the next tour! Also seriously eager for the new album to come out!

I hope you enjoyed my writing! If you want you can leave comments to say what you liked and didn't like about my blog. Now to think about the next item of my collection I shall write about.

Also: If anyone who reads this happens to have a spare Brendan B. Brown USBBB stick, please let me know I really really really really really really want one!

Bye!

Gerben.

Wheatus Comic

Hey Guys!

It has been a while, but i'm back! After a fantastic tour of Wheatus, which I enjoyed so incredibly much. I have finally found some time to make a new blog!
Today I'm going to write about the Wheatus comic.

A few months ago I got a message from Jane, Wheatus' merch wonder, asking me if I wanted the Wheatus comic. I didn't even know it excisted but when I heard of it, I needed it. Jane could get it for me via an other Wheatus fan. Acquiring it took a short while. I agreed with Jane that she would bring it to one of the shows in October. Unfortunately Jane didn't receive the comic in time so I had to wait a bit longer. Didn't really matter to me, as long as I got it. On the day it arrived I was really psyched. After opening the package and eating my dinner the reading began.

The comic was released back in 2001, if I am right it was made for the tour Wheatus did that year. I don't know how many were made but I do know they're not easy to find online. It's not a very long comic, but it's a great tribute to us frogs. The comic tells about Brendan who is having a huge writers block. He just can not come up with new songs. He then gets the suggestion to eat something, when he discovers Pete Brown ate all the food on the tour bus. Brendan gets mad , but Pete finds a sandwich he had stashed at the beginning of the tour. It's moldy and Brendan gets sick. When he goes into the toilet to vomit he starts spacing and the toilet turns into a blue and yellow squared room. A lot happens, but after a while Brendan figures out that their greatest achievement is earning all of their fans. It then start raining frogs who then all literally lift him over his writers block. He then wakes up grabs his guitar and occupies the toilet to write awesome music.

In the back of the book there is a small info box saying you can order the comics plus more via mail. It also says the comic came with a free poster. I hope to find this poster one day so that I can add it to my collection.

Well that's it. I hope you enjoyed my blog. If you feel the need to say something please feel free to contact me. I always like to hear what you think!

Thanks for reading!

Wheatus - Pop Songs And Death

Hey guys!

It has been a while, but here it is another update for another awesome item of Wheatus.

Today is the day i will tell you about the Pop Songs And Death Ep Volume 1 and 2.

I bought this one also at the gig on Oct the 30th 2014 in Amsterdam.
It's a great album that was released spread over 2 years. Volume 1, The Lightning EP came out in 2009 and volume 2, The Jupiter EP got releases in 2010. Later on the 2 albums were also combined to be sold as one album.

To me this is a fantastic set of songs, one of my favourites is on the ep, it's called Fisherman With A Clock.
The two albums are completely different from each other, but in a way they really go well together. Probably sounds stupid but that's how i feel about it. When i went to the gig, I was also hoping to get this album on vinyl but unfortunately it was sold out at that time. I did get it later on, but I'll tell about that when I blog about it.

There are a few songs on the album that have a extra load to them. The first one being Now. Brendan wrote this song for the movie April Showers, it is a movie about the columbine massacre in 1999. The other one being So old 'n Told. This song is about a ritual murder that happened in the area where Brendan lived when he was a kid. It had a great impact on him and he wrote this song about it. When I listen to it I really feel like he put in all of his feelings when singing this song.

Wheatus firstly released the ep's as a download only. A few months after the first ep came out they released a cd/dvd box that was limited to 500 copies, they also did this a few months after the release of the second ep. I was lucky enough to get those cd.dvd box sets long after they came out, but i will tell about that later!

I also really love the artwork that comes with these ep's. After making the ep's available for download, you could choose to download them for free or donate money. If you donated more than $5 you would get a comic with the download that was based on one of the songs. They did a comic on From Listening To Lightning and on Real Girl for the first ep and one on Bridges To Jupiter on the second ep. The comics also came with the cd/dvd boxes.

A while ago i asked Brendan on twitter if they've ever had the fisherman with a clock drawn. To my surprise they did but Brendan didn't have a picture of it at that time. A fellow fan who saw my tweet was kind enough to send me a picture of a shirt with that drawing. And iIt was almost exactly as I imagined by listening to that song. A few weeks ago just before Wheatus started their 15th anniversary tour, that is still going on now, Brendan send me a picture on twitter saying he found 2 leftover shirts of the fisherman. I was super excited cause not only did he have some shirts left, he also had one in the right size for me! I asked him to save it for me until their gig on cologne where i'm going to see them October 14th, and he would. Later on on the first day of their tour Jane contacted me. For those who don't know, Jane is a fantastic person, who happens to arrange the merch handling for the UK and the EU. She helped me get a lot of awesome Wheatus stuff. And she asked me if i still wanted the shirt. Of course I did, so now it's waiting to be bought by me in cologne!

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog!

See you at a Wheatus gig!

If you have time make sure to check the ep's out!

Wheatus - Suck Fony

Wheatus - Suck Fony CD

Today i'll tell you about suck fony. I also bought this album at the show on oct 30th 2014. It's one of my favourite albums, (who am i kidding, i love all the albums!) I love every song on it! Basically I bought almost everything they had for sale on that night, except for clothing, unfortunately I'm quite big, so everything was to small for me.
Since i allready told about meeting the band at the show I will just tell something about the show itself.
I remember the band playing "Bmx bandits" and it was awesome! But when they finished and asked what song to play next, somebody in the crowd yelled they should play it again but faster. And they did! It was so much fun to see them raging through the song, and it still sounded fantastic!

Originally this album was released under the title "Hand Over Your Loved Ones". That album wasn't very well promoted by Sony. That caused that the album didn't sell well. Wheatus wasn't very happy with that and also didn't like working for a label and decided to leave the label. After leaving the label they got the right to the album back, and they re-released it under the name "Suck Fony". They added two extra songs, being: "William mcGovern" and a  cover of  "Hit me with your best shot".

Inside the cover Brendan wrote the following about the re-release:

"We used to be signed to Sony.

Have you ever seen Deliverance?
Have you ever worked in an office and not quite been sure what your job was, who our boss was, who you were?
Have you ever wondered how much more corporate cock your ass can take?

There's a song by The Framed that talks about wanting life to make more sense. Being signed to Sony, life made less sense than it did in all of my office jobs combined, and there have been many. We got this record back from Sony because I told them I was looking for an office job again. It was true. I think they felt bad. Whatever..... it's ours now, I mean it's ours again.

Ten of these songs were given a woeful, abortive release by Sony on the album Hand Over Your Loved Ones in 2003. The original title, meaning and theme are gone forever, aborted. But the songs remain. Now it just feels like a record about the finger. So we renamed it Suck Fony and gave it some teeth.

Anyway here it is. We got it back from them and we're giving it to you.

Get some. Get some and pass it on.

Your friend,

Brendan B Brown
Wheatus"

I think this pretty much shows how Brendan felt about the whole situation.
If you haven't heard the album you should have a listen to it! Unfortunately the album is not on spotify, so i can't put a link to listen to it in my blog. I did put in the link to Hand Over Your Loved Ones in here so you can listen to that, but it does miss the 2 extra songs.

Thanks for reading!
