Wheatus - Suck Fony CD
Today i'll tell you about suck fony. I also bought this album at the show on oct 30th 2014. It's one of my favourite albums, (who am i kidding, i love all the albums!) I love every song on it! Basically I bought almost everything they had for sale on that night, except for clothing, unfortunately I'm quite big, so everything was to small for me.
Since i allready told about meeting the band at the show I will just tell something about the show itself.
I remember the band playing "Bmx bandits" and it was awesome! But when they finished and asked what song to play next, somebody in the crowd yelled they should play it again but faster. And they did! It was so much fun to see them raging through the song, and it still sounded fantastic!
Originally this album was released under the title "Hand Over Your Loved Ones". That album wasn't very well promoted by Sony. That caused that the album didn't sell well. Wheatus wasn't very happy with that and also didn't like working for a label and decided to leave the label. After leaving the label they got the right to the album back, and they re-released it under the name "Suck Fony". They added two extra songs, being: "William mcGovern" and a cover of "Hit me with your best shot".
Inside the cover Brendan wrote the following about the re-release:
"We used to be signed to Sony.
Have you ever seen Deliverance?
Have you ever worked in an office and not quite been sure what your job was, who our boss was, who you were?
Have you ever wondered how much more corporate cock your ass can take?
There's a song by The Framed that talks about wanting life to make more sense. Being signed to Sony, life made less sense than it did in all of my office jobs combined, and there have been many. We got this record back from Sony because I told them I was looking for an office job again. It was true. I think they felt bad. Whatever..... it's ours now, I mean it's ours again.
Ten of these songs were given a woeful, abortive release by Sony on the album Hand Over Your Loved Ones in 2003. The original title, meaning and theme are gone forever, aborted. But the songs remain. Now it just feels like a record about the finger. So we renamed it Suck Fony and gave it some teeth.
Anyway here it is. We got it back from them and we're giving it to you.
Get some. Get some and pass it on.
Your friend,
Brendan B Brown
Wheatus"
I think this pretty much shows how Brendan felt about the whole situation.
If you haven't heard the album you should have a listen to it! Unfortunately the album is not on spotify, so i can't put a link to listen to it in my blog. I did put in the link to Hand Over Your Loved Ones in here so you can listen to that, but it does miss the 2 extra songs.
Thanks for reading!
